Christmas is around the corner and I am getting into a festive spirit baking my favorite Swiss Christmas Cookies called “Mailändeli”!
They are very easy to bake and super delicious. I promise you everyone will love them! They are basically made with flour, butter and sugar and an extra citrusy touch!
For these little cuties I used:
- 250 g of Butter
- 225 g of caster Sugar
- 1 pinch of Salt
- 3 Eggs
- 1 Lemon Zest
- 500 g Flour
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1 TS Water
Stir the butter into a bowl until its smooth then add the sugar and salt. Add 1 egg after another until its turning slightly brighter. Add only the Zest of one Lemon. Finally add the flour and keep on whisking and kneading until you got a smooth dough. Put it into the fridge for 2 hours.
After resting roll out the dough ruffly 7-8mm and cut out your cookies. Leave them in the cold for 30min. Mix together the egg yolk and one Table Spoon of water and coat your cookies with this mixture.
Bake the cookies in a preheated oven of 180° air circulation for 10-12min.
Let them cool down and decorate the way you like it! Enjoy!
