Christmas Gift Ideas – Macarons

Christmas Gift Ideas – Macarons

Hello Everyone

So these little delicious Christmassy Macarons are my favorite. They look amazing and impressive and are perfect if you are looking for a low budget small gift to your friends & family!

For this recipe I used:

  • 70g of ground almonds
  • 100g of icing sugar
  • 50g Eggwhite (approx. from 2 eggs)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • food coloring
  • jam

Mix half of the ground almonds (35g) with the icing sugar and mix it and afterwards finely filter it through a colander (Is that the correct word :)?) until there are no big pieces left.

Measure the egg white very carefully, add the salt and beat the egg white until stiff. Add the rest of the icing sugar until the mixture is nice and shiny. Add coloring to the mixture if you like.  Combine the two mixture together really gently. Fill the mixture into a pipe and prepare your macarons onto a tray. (I have a silicon one with fine lines that help me measure the size of the macarons). Leave them for 20min to cool and generate something like a skin. Then put them into a oven at 140° for 15min. Wait until their really cooled before you add your filling. I used normal strawberry jam here 🙂 yum

Ps. This recipe really works and its honestly the first macaron recipe everything went and worked out like I wanted it to. Yes I am a bad baker BUT there are so many rubbish macaron recipes floating around! So I am really Happy 🙂

Hope you enjoyed it as well – please tell me what you think!

xo Katie

These are lovely! I’m so afraid to try macaroons since they seem so tricky. You did an excellent job here!

Thanks for the hint. With this recipe I made 16 sig Macarons as well as 16 small ones. I guess around 22-24 Big Macarons is realistic. xo

These look so beautiful and yummy they make me miss Paris! Making my own macarons is on my list of things to accomplish in the next year, so I think I may need to add these to my recipe box… Thanks for sharing!
