Today I want to share “My Everyday Evening Routine as a Blogger working from Home”.
First of all, I love reading and hearing about other people’s routines and second of all, I have become a total nerd on how to create healthy habits to become a successful businesswoman. Now when it comes to my natural personality, I am totally a night person. Watching Netflix until 2 am, drinking a glass of red wine and eating pizza is like my dream date night with Tom at home.
[bctt tweet=”But since I started my business and I am working 80% from home, I am super conscious about the fact that no one else but me can push my biz and life to the point of fulfilling my dreams.” username=””]
But why am I telling you this?
I believe that your Morning Routine (and you can read all about that here) and my Evening Routine are some of the determining factors for my success. As I am naturally more relaxed, creative, inspired and frankly a bit unstructured, “Structure” is exactly what I need in my everyday Evening Routine as a Blogger working from Home!
So here we go. This is how I am structuring my evening to be hyper-productive, focussed, and driven throughout the next day. It also helps me juggle the overwhelmed which is real girl, you know it is!
Ps. you want to Start and Grow a Blog that Makes Money FAST! You’re in luck. My signature blogging course, THE BLOG STUDIO, IS OPEN for enrollment for just a few days! Don’t miss it. You don’t have to do this alone. Let me help you get to your creative online business faster. Check it out now!
Workouts
So I work out 3 times a week 100% of the time. I work out 4 times a week or more probably 60% of all weeks and it helps create the energy I need to build my business.
I love love love working out after I am done with work. It’s my favorite time to work out between 6 pm and 7 pm and I usually do a 25min-45min workout.
Having said that, if you look at my morning routine you can see that I do try to move my workouts to the mornings. Morning workouts are more effective, you move your body the first thing when you wake up and create the energy for your day. Plus it’s done.
I love working out in the evening though because I have all the energy to do HIIT or cardio workouts, which girl I can’t in the morning. But with my busy schedule more often than not, I plan to workout in the evening and then get sidetracked, end up having to move my workout to the next day.
Grrrumml.
In any case, morning or evening workouts are a big part of my life and my first part of my evening routine as a blogger working from home.
If you are interested here are some of the workouts I love to do throughout my week:
- I love love love Yoga! So when I lived in L.A, I loved going to “Y7” doing Hot Yoga while listening to Hip Hop, it’s the best! Since back in Zurich, I just use the “Tone It Up App” to get some Yoga in (tiu girl here)!
- I love running outside, especially now that it’s spring and it’s not too cold nor hot.
- Tom and I love to hike in the Mountains (you have to check out my Insta Stories if you are interested in that)
- I go on 15min+ walks with Phoebe 2-3 times a day
- I use free YouTube Videos to do workouts at home (I love XHIT and Rebecca Louise)

Cooking
My next step in my Evening Routine as a Blogger working from Home is to prepare dinner.
I love eating healthy so I usually prepare a 30min meal before Tom gets home. I put on some jazz or I listen to one of my favorite podcasts while chopping away in my kitchen.
Having that time with Tom in the evening is a super important part of my day.
As we both have very demanding jobs, we use dinner time to catch up, rewind the day and spend some quality time together. I have realized that when he works really really late or we are meeting other people in the evening and I don’t get this catch-up time together, it can be really disruptive during my workday. This can mean phone calls during work hours, unpaid bills or forgotten appointments.
Also, while planning my wedding and building this business, I have definitely had days where I was just too tired to cook. Full disclosure here. These are the hardest days for me because I love carby meals and when I am tired of course I am craving a pizza or a Chinese delivery.
But, what really helped me stay on the healthy side during this very intense few months before the wedding was getting hello fresh meals three times a week.
It’s basically a delivery box which includes three meals, which include the exact ingredients (spices veggies and all) to cook the recipe. The ingredients are healthy and filled with a regional product which I love. You can check it out here if you live in Switzerland like me, The US here and the UK here.
Watching TV + checking Social + have a Glass of Wine
Full disclosure, there are evenings when we are too tired to talk so we watch a movie, I chill on the couch and scroll social or have a glass of my favorite red 😉
Since working in Social Media it is super important to me, that it does not take over my entire life so I have defined specific times where I basically “allow” myself to just be online.
It reduces the guilt of being online plus it helps me be less distracted by social media during my day because I know I will have time to scroll later on that day!

Short Cleaning Session
About ten minutes before I head to bed, I do a quick run through our apartment. I make sure Phobes toys are tucked away and the rooms are tidy in order for me to start work fresh the next day.
This is a biggy in my evening routine as a blogger working from home! What would happen before I implemented this, I would stay up late, fall asleep during a movie on the couch and Tom would have to carry me to bed 😉 Then the next day before I could start my day, I would have to clean the place in order to free up my mind for work.
I seriously can’t work from home when the place is chaos! I get too distracted by all the housework and end up cleaning, ironing, food shopping, and washing before I can start work. Ok fair enough, I never iron;).
What has really helped us was watching Marie Kondos show on tidying on Netflix. We took it super seriously cleaned out our place in a two-week effort. Now that I have a system and our apartment is clutter free, it takes me only minutes to restore our apartment to a decent state! Check out her Book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” here!
Removing my Makeup
Well, this is kind of a no-brainer but girl, I don’t know about you but I wasn’t always that consistent with removing my makeup before going to bed. First of all, it’s kind of hard when you fall into a coma on your sofa and your hubby carries you to bed. Second of all, it’s an awful feeling waking up with your yesterday makeup all over your face.
In my evening routine as a blogger working from home, this is the beginning of the second part of the evening. Basically, at 10 pm I head to our room and take off my Makeup. I do my skincare and change into something comfortable.
Up until this point, Tom and I often talk about work or discuss plans or have a wild discussion but as of this point, I am basically leaving work and overwhelming thoughts such as my full email inbox and unresolved situations behind. I take this time for myself and start winding down.
Reading
Reading more has been one of my new year’s resolutions for 2019.
I absolutely love reading and it’s my favorite way of winding down. Also since implementing reading for 30min every single evening, I have been able to read and finish more books in the first three months of 2019 than in the entire year of 2018!
I love inspirational books, business guides and I am a sucker for self-help books for women such as “Girl, Stop Apologizing” by Rachel Hollis or “You are a badass” by Jen Sincero!

Meditation
I think it was the beginning of this year when I first discovered the “Headspace” app. It’s a meditation app where you can focus on different meditations helping you to cope with difficult situations or feelings throughout your day.
So after reading I open the app and choose a 10-15min guided meditation on a topic I am particularly interested in this day.
It includes meditations on:
- Improving your concentration
- Reducing Stress + Anxiety
- Falling asleep
- Personal Growth
- Work and Productivity
- Physical Health
- Kids
- Students
- Helpful Tips
- Performance
I don’t know why we are always obsessing about our physical health when mental health is such a big topic. Like many other people, I am strong in some parts of my life and in others, I struggle with anxiety and overthinking.
Headspace is really starting to teach me how to quiet down my mind when I am feeling stressed, overwhelmed and anxious. Let me know if you would like to hear more about this topic and please share your thoughts in the comments!
Meditating has seriously helped me fall asleep without ease. I have not had trouble a single night since I started meditating in the evening, even during peak times planning a wedding and starting a business.
Sleep is the most important thing in my evening routine as a blogger working from home because I can recharge and work through the day to start fresh and motivated the next morning.
So this is it, this is it. This is all there is to my everyday evening routine as a blogger working from home.
I hope you are enjoying these more personal post in combination to the blogging, social media and entrepreneur tips I am posting and I would love to hear your feedback!
Let me know if you found this post helpful and I will talk to you very soon!
Xoxo
Katie
